Excellent, except for the WIFI service and the Vacation Club touts.

Stayed at this hotel before. Our room was excellent, with both bath and shower which suits us both, plus a nice (sunny) balcony with good chairs and table. The breakfast selection was very good, but the option to sit outside on the terrace makes breakfast one of the best times of the day. We ate in the hotel Taverna Grill one evening, both food quality and service were excellent.

Arrgh, the hotel WIFI is extremely poor as it has been for years unfortunately. Like before, we received better (but not great) WIFI service by using the WIFI from the nearby Reids Hotel. Also, every day there were a number of vacation club touts who harass you outside of the hotel. Did not encounter these folks anywhere else in Funchal, just around our hotel.

Generally happy with room and location, views etc. Hotel was ok but many aspects not up to 5 star st

The room we had was very good mainly because we were given an upgrade due to our booked room being too high in the main building

The food overall was very average and varied in quality. For example the salad bar in the evening was very good but the hot food section was not really up to a very high standard and buffet was overcooked if you ate around 8pm as it had been lying there since 6.30pm

Lovely breakfast choice and eaten on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Spacious rooms, marginally dated but comfy and with attractive mountain view.

A beautiful hotel with fantastic location & staff, you'll feel well taken care of.

we upgraded our room to an ocean view suite which was magical. The view space and services was top notch. The location fantastic and in walking distance to all major Funchal Destinations. We appreciated that there was free parking although not a great lot, one was provided. There is also a paid lot that was fairly priced. It is a vast hotel. The breakfast, Resturant taverna and pub were convenient and provided delicious meals.

Our first room was a bit dated, the shower head and bath tub old but It was still a nice spacious room with stunning city view on a high floor so the city noise was minimal. The staff regardless was wonderful.

The staff were wonderful, a great location with wonderful views and facilities

The room, own floor 15 had an incredible view looking over the Atlantic, and we were able to see both sunrise and sunset. We could also see the big cruise ships arriving and leaving the port of Funchal.

For those who are a little nesh the pools are a little on the cool side. However, once you swim a couple of lengths the feeling is exhilarating. There are two indoor pools - both in wonderful settings, and two indoor pools; the larger indoor pool being slightly warmer.

Brilliant stay.

Lovely bedroom with almost floor to ceiling windows/ door to balcony with terrific town & port / harbour views. Great check in service & staff with great info. Walking distance to nearby Sé area & lovely coastal walk to Santa Maria area. The impact of the city lights & festive efforts is brilliant from higher floors.

Great comfortable hotel close to Ludi and Funchal centre although steep hill to climb up to get to hotel from centre.

Very comfortable bed and quiet room close to pool. Restaurants near hotel. Lots of variety at breakfast.

Shower wasn’t great. Shower head kept falling down. Water dripping on terrace, maybe from air conditioning.

Wonderful

Amazing breakfast selection and beautiful view from the breakfast hall. Clean and spacious room. Friendly staff at the reception and Taverna bar.

Almost non-existent service in the pool bar. Holes in bed linens, and the bed itself was not the most comfortable.

Loved the pool area - especially by the sea. Lovely room - ensuite with shower and bath. Great breakfast and lively, friendly staff

Lovely relaxing stay

We booked here to relax after a few big days of hiking and it absolutely delivered what we were hoping it would. Great facilities, had more than we hoped for. Staff were super friendly and helpful, we were leaving very early in the morning for a few day trips and were able to order a breakfast "packed lunch" bag that was delivered to our room the night before which was a really nice touch.

The hotel was ok but the island is amazing

Top location and facilities

No proper parking next to hotel and no service to make the parking easier and appropriate.I have to pay to park my car per hour and even when we sleep at night. They have another parking for free but it is extremely difficult to reach and to use. Also, we did get even one water bottle after the first day as every other hotel. Over it is manage to maximise profit and minimise service

Wonderful

Everything was perfect,room was clean, we got room in the highest floor so view was amazing. Reception very helphul with all quastions. It was our honeymoon so we got champagne in room,and after long flight it was so deligtfull to sit in the balkon and absorb the view. The breakfast- most delicious we had in few years of staying in hotels. Pools very clean, there always a person to accomondate if you need and umbrella or anything else. To sum up,place in the city,reception,food was on the spot.

One minus,that they had very small free parking lot, and it was quite inconveinience to park there, as there downhill and very small spots.

Wonderful

Variety of swimming places, the facilities around swimming pools, breakfast buffet

With Bay view rooms you get side view of the ocean, not exactly what I expected. The ocean view from the balcony was restricted, plus you get the noise from the street and the surrounding restaurant well after 10:30 pm. Also, the finishing of the rooms felt a little dated e.g. lack of usb outlets, also pillows were not so comfortable in some beds.
